In 2009 I began work translating, interpreting, planning logistics, production and consulting on the “Shift of the Ages (SOTA)” documentary. The documentary followed the story of the Mayan elder Cirilo Perez Oxlaj. The story began around the retrieval of a thousand years old Mayan staff belonging to Tata Cirilo Perez Oxlaj from Guatamala, which had been lent to an Aymara elder from Bolivia, Don Valentine Mejillones. The staff had been lent to the Aymara leader to organize an indigenous gathering that never materialized. Retrieving the staff required much delicate negotiation between native nations and translation between my three languages English, Aymara and Spanish. This served as a vehicle to give Tata Cirilo a platform to speak about the mayan calendar ending in 2012 and its true meaning, healing the ancestral wound left during the Spanish conquest of the Americas and going forward into a spiritual springtime of fulfilled Indigenous prophecy, peace and brotherhood among Indigenous and Western peoples. SOTA was released in 2012.

En 2009 comencé a trabajar traduciendo, interpretando, planificando logística, producción y consultoría en el documental “Shift of the Ages (SOTA)”. El documental siguió la historia del anciano maya Cirilo Pérez Oxlaj. La historia comenzó con la recuperación de un bastón maya de mil años de antigüedad perteneciente al Tata Cirilo Pérez Oxlaj de Guatemala, que había sido prestado a un anciano aymara de Bolivia, Don Valentín Mejillones. El bastón había sido prestado al líder aymara para organizar un encuentro indígena que nunca se concretó. Recuperar el bastón requirió mucha negociación delicada entre las naciones nativas y traducción entre mis tres idiomas: inglés, aymara y español. Esto sirvió como vehículo para darle a Tata Cirilo una plataforma para hablar sobre el calendario maya que termina en 2012 y su verdadero significado, sanando la herida ancestral dejada durante la conquista española de las Américas y avanzando hacia una primavera espiritual de profecía indígena cumplida, paz. y la hermandad entre los pueblos indígenas y occidentales. SOTA fue lanzado en 2012.
